Toto's Temporary Accomodations

The City caught up with us - guess they were not too happy that Toto over stayed her welcome in our driveway.  She is parked at Olathe Ford RV in Gardner until the next camping trip in a couple of weeks.  We will have a nice cover for her during the winter, but also hope to have appropriate parking in our backyard before too long.  I miss looking out my window and seeing this happy camper :(

Boo! Halloween Party in the Woods

Spooky witches Sue, Lori & Wanda
The girls put out quite a spread of spooky cocktails and appetizers.
We barely finished our chili cook-off when the thunder and lightning began.  A race to put everything inside and off we went to our respective trailers.  We thought we'd be back outside again in an hour, but the storm continued all night long.  I tucked into a comfy bed and watched a movie on my DVD player.  That's about as roughing it as I want to get!

This is my cold and cold running water.  I could easily brush my teeth, wash my dishes, rinse off the mud on my shoes.  The trick was keeping my foot on the hose while I pumped the handle to get it started.  The first time I did that the hose flew away from me like a Mr. Wiggle water toy!

First Camping Trip - Spooktacular in Wagoner OK w/SOTF

Thursday, October 20, 2011
Is this all really going to fit?  Of course ---- I am the Master Packer Of All Time!

See!  All packed and ready to roll.  Back in 3 days!  Oh wait....I need to tell you that I made it all the way to Pittsburg KS (2 hrs south) to meet Sister Karen.  Sisters Deb, Mary and I were waiting in the Home Depot parking lot.  I turned my key to start the car and guess what?  The battery was dead.  AAA to the rescue!  Got the car started and we drove to the Battery Barn for a new battery.  That was NOT in my plan for the weekend!

Toto arrives in Wagoner Oklahoma, Rocky Point State Park!

Meet Crazy Wayne.  Yes, I know the girls are suppose to do it all (hitch, tow, back up, set up, clean up, blah, blah, blah).  But really...when you have a very talented and experienced truck driver who just happens to kindly volunteer to back up your pretty little trailer (without hitting a tree), who would turn down such an offer?  Thank you, Wayne!

Leveled, jacks set, electrical hooked up, table set.  Where's the party?

Time to have a fun, fun, weekend.

Big Sister Joan Has Been Busy

I have such a clever big sister!  Joan made this quilted wall hanging and used Scrabble tiles and lots of bling.  The charms include a tiny vintage trailer, Wizard of Oz characters, a princess crown (that's me), sunflowers and so many fun and sparkly things.  Thank you, Joanie!

Joan knows how much I love dragonflies --- a special place to hang the keys to the playhouse!

All Better!

A little Botox....a little filler.   What gal in her 50's doesn't look better with help?

The First "Camp Out"

I  CAN hitch, tow and back a trailer.  Yes I CAN!  Saturday Vernon and I drove down to our house at Fort Scott Lake to camp in the front yard.  80 miles down and 80 miles back and didn't hit anything!  Be proud --- I am!

Little Toto visited Quiet Cove on Oct 8th & 9th for an overnighter.

Almost dark, all lit up and ready for bed.  Vernon and Toby lasted until about 12:30.  Tight quarters for Toby to be comfortable so they went inside the house to sleep the rest of the night.  I stayed outside and listened to the night sounds - dogs, trains, hoot owls.  Very peaceful.  I could tell you that it was just like real camping, but I did go inside for a hot bubble bath before lights out!

Big Girls DO Cry :(((

Do you see my tears on the ground?  Oh my heart was breaking.   I haven't even left the driveway and I broke her!!!!  Tuesday morning I backed out of the garage, attempting to avoid the recycle bins, and BAM!  Ouch!  Stomp, Cry, Yell!  I spent two days trying to find someone who would come to my house and fix this dent before Vernon sees it.  Since that wasn't possible, Dear Husband has seen the damage via cell photo, shrugged and said "no big deal, easily fixed."  Love that man!  Now Toto's friend, Craig, is going to have another winter project to get this all better.  Oh well, hope I do better on the road than I do in my driveway......

It's Time to Peek Inside

Ready for a front yard party

First class all the way --- ironing board bar, vintage camp chairs and table.  And of course, flowers.

Come on in and see what we've done.

Welcome!
Dinette table (makes into a bed), new white vinyl upholstery, pretty in polka dots.

It's all about relaxing....

Princess stove and icebox.  Please note candlelight and wine!

"Sisters on the Fly" is the inspiration for this mid-life adventure!

Collection of suitcases for extra storage

A girl needs a nice handbag, even while camping!

My Daddy had a lunchbox just like this.  Every day when he came home from work we'd look inside to see if he left us a treat.  Now it makes a perfect place to keep a first aid kit.
Cozy comfort - no sleeping bags for this camper!  Feather bed, down comforter and lots of fluffy pillows.  Even Little Toto is up for a nap.

Dining table - enamel coffee pot makes a cheerful vase
Such a happy and welcoming playhouse.  No Boys Allowed!  (Except those who install trailer hitches, buy new tires, order the parts and pieces to get this rig running safely)

Every Glamorous Cowgirl need boots and a petticoat
At the end of the day, we finally figured out how to put up the awning.  It's amazing what WD-40 can accomplish.    Piece of cake!  Now we just need to get out of our front yard and go camping.
